The BlueParrott M300-XT Bluetooth Headset: Light as a Feather, Heavy on Functionality

Bluetooth headsets have become the staple gadget for everyone. Whether it’s for listening to music or for work, a Bluetooth headset is a go-to for a hassle-free experience. Imagine still constantly untangling wires. Ugh. The only thing is, the market for these devices is so vast that you wouldn’t know which would offer you the best bang for the buck.

Expensive doesn’t mean the best. Some headsets that are in the higher price range still fail in some aspects and a lot of times the issue lies in connectivity. Cheaper headsets, on the other hand, fail on that feature even more and the build— totally sucks.

So, where do we stand, the hard-working person who grinds every single day for a living, in this saturated space of Bluetooth headsets? We may have a great solution for you— the BlueParrott M300-XT.

How To Use BlueParrott M300 XT, Headset Basics, Mute, Volume Controls, Updates

Video Transcript

[00:00:00] Rolando: Have you purchased the BlueParrot M300-XT and you have questions on exactly how to get the best usage of this device? Well, I'm here to help as I disseminate the basics on how to get started with the BlueParrot M300-XT.

[00:00:18] Today, we're taking a look at the BlueParrott M300-XT bluetooth headset. Let's dive right in.

[00:00:25] Customer: How do I turn the BlueParrott M300-XT on or off?

[00:00:28] Rolando: That's a good question. So what you're going to do is look for that very top button and you want to hold that button down for about two seconds and it will start flashing blue and you'll hear a voice that will say, "Power on. Your headset is connected." And that's all you have to do to turn it on.

[00:00:42] Now, to turn it off, you're going to do the exact same thing. So you'll hold that button down for two seconds and you will also see the light starting to flash red, and it'll say, "Power off. Your headset has been disconnected." And that's all you've got to do to turn the BlueParrot M300-XT on or [00:01:00] off.

[00:01:01] And before we go to the next question, don't forget to bump the like button as YouTube will keep showing this video to more people that have questions about BlueParrott headsets.

[00:01:09] Customer: How do I answer calls using the BlueParrott M300-XT?

[00:01:13] Rolando: So to answer a call, what you're going to do is press the top button, which is called the multifunction button.

[00:01:19] You're going to press that when you're getting the call and it will pick up the call. And when you're trying to disconnect the call and you're done talking, you're going to do the same thing. You'd press that button and it will go ahead and disconnect the call. So there's another trick in here that you may want to know, and that's rejecting a call. Hold the button down for two seconds and the call will be rejected on your phone.

[00:01:41] It's that simple.

[00:01:43] Customer: How do I adjust the volume on the BlueParrot M300-XT?

[00:01:47] Rolando: All right. On the BlueParrot M300-XT, you have a plus and a minus button. Your plus is going to adjust your volume upwards. Your minus will adjust your volume downwards. And here's a quick tip [00:02:00] on the volume levels on the BlueParrot M300-XT. Many of you that have been using the BlueParrott M300XT have noted how the volume levels may not be the same as other headsets that they've made. Now BlueParrott has found a bug in the M300 that limited the volume and, hence, released an update to its firmware.

[00:02:19] So you'll want to download the BlueParrott mobile app and go ahead and download the latest update. I'll put a link in the videos that we created so that you can know how to get that done.

[00:02:31] Customer: How do I mute myself during a call on the BlueParrot M300-XT?

[00:02:35] Rolando: All right. So there's two ways to mute yourself when you use the BlueParrott.

[00:02:39] BlueParrot M300-XT allows this buttons to be the mute button during a call. So if you've got it programmed for other functions, it will revert to being a mute button. Now there's a second way to also mute. Take a look at this plus button. This button, if you hold it down for two seconds while you're on a call, will also trigger the mute [00:03:00] function.

[00:03:00] And to unmute, we would do the same thing for both buttons. So mute, unmute, I would just stick with the BlueParrott buttons right on the side so you'll have no confusion on what's going on. We just have to note that it becomes your default new button while you're on a conversation.

[00:03:15] I want to thank you for watching us today. And I've got a couple other helpful videos here on screen about the BlueParrott M300-XT. Check those out, and I'll see you in those videos.

Light But Tough

The M300-XT is BlueParrot’s smallest and lightest headset ever! Weighing in at just 0.7 oz/20 g, this little thing fits any ear effortlessly that you’ll forget you had it there in the first place. The package comes with three ear gels of different sizes so you won’t have to suffer with an ill-fitting one as you go through your day.

Now, with this size and weight, you may think that the BlueParrott M300-XT has a flimsy build. Oh, no. In fact, the M300-XT is built to take a beating especially if you’re always on the go. It features IP54-rated protection against dust and water so you don’t have to worry about sweat ruining its circuitry. Just wear it and leave it.

Crisp Audio

Ever experienced taking a call outside only to end up being frustrated because all you could hear were noise? On the other side, your colleague’s ear is bombarded by the same sounds that makes it a terrible experience for you both. Suffice to say, most of us at one point suffered through this ordeal and it certainly sent steam out of our ears.

Well, the pain is over folks. The BlueParrott M300-XT will give you an experience so flawless and reliable you won’t look anywhere else.

The headset is equipped with 2 noise-canceling microphones that guarantee to block out 80% of background noises so the person on the other end of the line won’t get annoyed by barking dogs, cars passing by on the street, or a Harley revving it up behind you.

Connectivity at Its Finest

Admit it. Phones are getting wider and heavier with each new release so it’s becoming troublesome to keep them in your pocket. Be that as it may, you simply can’t part with it even for short errands because you might miss an important call. Well, you won’t have to.

The M300-XT is equipped with Bluetooth 5.1 for superior connectivity and has NFC or Near-Field Communication for easy pairing. It has a wireless range of 300 ft./ 100 meters so you won’t have to carry your phone with you. Who knows, with you being so preoccupied, you might drop your precious phone. Ouch!

BlueParrott M300 XT - Advanced Tips And Hidden Features

Video Transcript

[00:00:00] Rolando: Hey there. Have you had this BlueParrott M300-XT for a while and wondering what other features it can do? Well, I'm here to show you some advanced and hidden features that you may not be aware of. And today we are doing a deep dive on the M300-XT by BlueParrott specifically looking at advanced and hidden features.

[00:00:18] In this video, we're going to go a little nerdy so, let's go to it right now.

[00:00:22] Let's take a look at our first question.

[00:00:24] Customer: How do you pair the BlueParrott M300-XT headset to a PC?

[00:00:28] Rolando: It's a really good question. So buckle in because there's a couple of things that you should know about the M300-XT.

[00:00:34] First, on BlueParrott's website, they officially do not support connectivity between a PC and the BlueParrott M300-XT. I'll, read it a little bit for you so you get the exact wording. It says, "because the BlueParrott headset is optimized for a mobile device, we do not recommend you pair your device directly with an unsupported device." Now they don't specify with what those unsupported devices are, but I [00:01:00] would assume these are things like televisions that have built-in Bluetooth, your computers, Windows as well as Mac, as well as video game consoles. All of these devices have Bluetooth built in. Theoretically, you could pair, they just don't give you the support. Let me tell you why.

[00:01:16] So the M300-XT is designed for usage on smartphones and tablets, and because BlueParrott specifically designed this device to be used with smartphones and tablets, some of the functionality that's built into the M300-XT may not transfer over to a PC. So you may be able to send or receive audio from a PC, but some of the other buttons may not work like the mute, the volume up and down. In addition to that, the native connection between the PC and the mobile device may be spotty. This is something that applies to almost all Bluetooth headsets that do not use a dongle. Now, we have extensive videos on how to get the best usage when using a headset and a dongle, [00:02:00] as well as some other tips. I'm going to have them in the description so you can take a look at those. So could you do it? Absolutely. But, if you go to BlueParrott, they may not help you at all. Actually, not may. I know they won't when it comes to this area because a lot of people want to do that.

[00:02:13] Our next question has to do with how to update the firmware.

[00:02:17] Customer: How do you update the M300-XT to the latest firmware?

[00:02:21] Rolando: I like this question because I like to know if I've got the latest, greatest, software firmware ready on my device. And I've created a video around this that shows you step-by-step on how to do that. I'll put the link in the description. I'll give you the two-second version of that. You need the BlueParrott app and inside the BlueParrott app, there'll be an update indicator. And that lets you know that you have an update ready for you and that you can download it to the M300-XT.

[00:02:50] Our next question has to do on how do you use this in multi-point mode.

[00:02:54] Customer: How do you connect two devices using the multi-point feature?

[00:02:57] Rolando: I like the way you're thinking. I like using [00:03:00] the advanced features on the M300-XT, especially the multi-point feature. So if you've got two smartphones or you've got a smart phone and a tablet, this is where this feature comes in handy.

[00:03:10] So the first thing you want to do is put the M300-XT into discovery mode and find device A. Now, once you've successfully paired with device A, what you want to do is turn device A off, and then put the BlueParrott M300-XT back into discovery mode and look for device B. And now this is when you want to turn on device B's pairing feature for Bluetooth.

[00:03:33] So turn that on. Now, pair it to device B. And now you have both A and B in the memory of the device. Now, what you can do now is turn all the devices off and now turn them all back on. And what you'll have is your M300-XT pairing to both device A and device B. Just a reminder, if you're looking to connect to both your mobile device and PC, the PC connectivity function may not work very well because it's not [00:04:00] supported officially by BlueParrott.

[00:04:02] So just keep that in mind when you're using the multi-point mode. It's built in, follow these steps, and go back and rewind this video if you need to do these steps again.

[00:04:10] Before we go to the next question, I want to remind you to bump the like button so that YouTube could show this video to more people that have questions about the BlueParrott M300-XT headset.

[00:04:20] Our next question has to do with using the M300-XT with streaming services like music or podcast.

[00:04:27] Customer: Can you skip or rewind streaming videos or music?

[00:04:30] Rolando: Let me remind you first, PC functionality may not be built into this so, just a word to the wise. Now, if you're using this with your mobile phone, there are no skip or move forward or go backward buttons on here and the app does not have those controls either. So if you're listening to your favorite Spotify playlist or YouTube podcast, like What The Teck, you're going to have to use the controls that are on your smartphone in order to skip, rewind or move forward. Hope that helps.

[00:04:59] [00:05:00] Our next question has to do with battery life on the M300-XT.

[00:05:03] Customer: Are there ways I can improve the battery life on the M300?

[00:05:07] Rolando: Well, this is something that is not quite a mystery, but requires a little bit of digging. So I dug into this and on the M300-XT, and this applies to other Bluetooth headsets, if you keep your battery during the summer months or winter months in the car, the batteries capacity for talk time will be diminished. And that has to do with the extreme temperatures that are placed on the device, in the cold, as well as the heat. So as a pro tip, I would take the M300-XT with you into the house or at work because batteries over time will degrade and lose some of the capacity. So take the BlueParrott with you when you leave the car or you leave your truck.

[00:05:49] I want to thank you for joining me today on Answer The Community. And if you want to check out more videos on the M300-XT, I've got a couple more on this screen. I'll see you on the next [00:06:00] video.

Talk Time? What Talk Time?

The BlueParrott M300-XT is capable of up to 14 hours of talk time on a single charge. That’s almost a day! You won’t have to worry about charging the headset just to stay connected with your colleagues.

One Button Has It All

Do you fumble on your current headset a lot to find the right button to turn it on, answer, or reject a call? The M300-XT has none of that. With one multi-function button, you can turn the device on or off, answer/end the call, reject the call, and access your voice assistant. It even has a customizable BlueParrot Button™ to boost your productivity and have access to your favorite or go-to features.

Easy Way To Update BlueParrott M300-XT Firmware in Seconds

Video Transcript

[00:00:00] Rolando: So, what you're gonna do is go ahead and download the BlueParrott app to your phone. Go ahead and launch the BlueParrott app and you may see an icon that has the word update. If it doesn't, give it a few seconds and it will show up. And it will push a notification to you that says you have a new firmware version available. And if you do, it may take about 40 minutes for it to go ahead and go through the entire process.

[00:00:32] There we go, validating the upload. And once it's validated that package, it will go ahead and push it to the BlueParrott. Upgrade complete. Click on out of there. And you may get this "rebooting in progress." Don't unplug anything. Go ahead. Upgrade now is fully complete. You can double check- it. It'll get an alert that'll say there is no more firmware update available. So you're good to go at that point.

[00:00:57] Now, if you have any additional problems, you can go [00:01:00] ahead and reach out to BlueParrott by email or by calling BlueParrott and they will get in touch with you and try to work through that point. It'd be a shame if you were not able to use all the buttons and functions on the BlueParrott and that's why I've created a video around this so that you know how to get the best usage of the device.

[00:01:17] I've got it up here and I'll see you in that video.

CONCLUSION
