How To Replace Your BlueParrott B550-XT Cushions
The BlueParrott B550-XT is a Bluetooth headset that is designed for those who spend a lot of time on the road. [00:00:00] Rolando: In this video, we're replacing the ear pads on the BlueParrott B550-XT headset. Now the BlueParrott comes in several different models and the way you know that you're using the 550 is quite simple. Inside, you'll have some letters and some markings here. Right here, you'll see where it says BlueParrott B550.
[00:00:19] So, we'll do first is connect our leatherette. We'll put those on. You see that these are shaped very similar and they should go right over the top. You can stretch it a little bit to give it a little bit of an ease of use when you put it right over the top.
[00:00:31] So you could see it goes right in there. I'm going to just keep on rotating the headset and just cover it up and just going to pull from the inside. And now you've got a brand new leatherette ear pad on your BlueParrott B550-XT.
[00:00:45] Now some people use this foam and put it over the top for extra comfort. I'm just going to show you what that looks like.
[00:00:55] It takes a little bit of wiggling the ear pad. , I'm trying to be careful with it. It does [00:01:00] stretch. But one of the things that we've seen is that they may tear when you try to accomplish this. So take your time when you're doing this otherwise, these foam will tear. That way you don't tear any of this stuff.
[00:01:10] There we go. Now I've been able to get the foam over the leather and there are some of you out there that like to use it this way and so, we wanted to demonstrate that you can actually do that without tearing the pieces.
[00:01:21] Now let's go ahead and replace
[00:01:23] so now with this, you'll notice that the BlueParrott B550-XT has on the inside of the BlueParrott B550-XT, you have two dots, and this is the inside of the microphone.
[00:01:31] This is what should be facing you. If this is turned like this and facing away from you, you won't get very good audio quality because the microphone inside is actually designed so that the inside is picking up your voice. The outside is for filtering out background noise.
[00:01:46] So make sure those two dots are facing you.
[00:01:48] As you'll notice, the opening may look smaller than the actual microphone and that's on purpose so that you can get a nice snug fit. When I do this is, I try to just expand it a little bit. Now, if you're rough with it, you may [00:02:00] tear it.
[00:02:00] So go ahead and take your time when you're doing this. What I'd like to do is try to pin one side of the windscreen on one side of the microphone. Go ahead and pull that over and you can see how we've already pulled it down a little bit and it's come over the microphone. And then I pull on the other side, then I'll go ahead and pull again on this side and then the other.
[00:02:18] Now we've got a replacement windscreen on the BlueParrott B550-XT. And that's how you replace the BlueParrot B550-XT windscreen and ear pads.
Quick Guide for the Readers Out There
Installing the Leather Cushions
- Remove the old earpad from the headset by carefully pulling it off the earpiece.
- Put the new earpad on top of the earpiece and begin to wrap and fit it around until the earpiece is fully covered.

- Take the foam and carefully wrap it over the leather cushion. Remember the material is stretchable but it will definitely tear if you overdo it so, take your time.
- Wrap the earpiece all the way to give it a snug fit.
Microphone Windscreen Replacement
- Face the side of the microphone that has two dots towards you at all times. This is the pickup of the microphone and turning it away from you would affect the quality of your audio during a call.
- Pin one side of the windscreen to the microphone and stretch it as you pull down to cover the microphone completely. Now, be careful here as well. Don’t over do it to avoid tearing the windscreen.
