Care Economy: Innovative Employee Benefits In Today’s Hybrid Work Model With Tara Campbell Lussier

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on all manners of livelihood. The massive shift to work from home has given parents the opportunity to spend more time with their children. However, this is offset by one of the other effects of the pandemic: its impact on the care economy.

But what is the care economy?

The care economy is defined by the general care of the human population. This is done through the provision of food, clothing, shelter, and other forms of aid. The work you find in the care economy is as general as child care resources, elderly care, household management services, and even health care.

Even employee care is part of the care economy! Employee benefits packages for small businesses are one of the many factors to fight for in the care economy. Many employees need to care for their family and the care economy can take care of that.

So if the care economy suffers, so do we.

With the care economy being so crucial in our society, why aren’t the workers being taken properly care of, especially the women?

Studies have shown that many women in the care economy are being underpaid or worse, unpaid. As the world continues its fight against the pandemic, it hurts to see them not given their dues.

According to Melinda French Gates’ website, pivotalventures.org, care is a rapidly growing industry and investable market. Now is the perfect time for people to step up and solve the challenges of care and even seize market opportunities.

But how? How can we help our care workers? What can the average person do to help the care economy?

Joining us on this episode of #WhatTheTeck is Tara Campbell Lussier, founder and CEO of Arrow, a women-led organization dedicated to providing FamTech (family tech) solutions to working parents and caregivers.

She will be enlightening us on many subjects such as working parent child care and hopefully answer some questions such as is working from home better for moms and dads?

Though it sounds ideal to work from home for reasons on health, safety, and family bonding, not every parent has access to such opportunities. And hopefully Tara can enlighten us on solutions on remote family care services!

Find out more on how we can help the care economy on this episode of What The Teck!
